Blown Away by Broder

I was so wrong about Broder.

I said in my book that I didn’t think the food was that great. I guess I was “right” in that I was honest about my feelings. It’s just that I went back recently and, well, the food is great! Not sure what I was thinking before, but I’m impressed now.

It was a Portland Food Adventures “first meal of the year,” and you can read my write-up with photos over at BreakfastinBridgetown.com.

Breakfast Review by “Lovely Assistant”

Last summer I met this lovely young woman named Elisa, and long story short, she wound up doing some writing for my breakfast blog. And this week we have the last of those pieces, since I’m cutting costs in this department. Financially speaking, I’m trading her in for a podcast, but that sounds harsh, doesn’t it?

Anyway, she makes Verde Cocina sound like a place I need to get to soon. Read all about it.

Brunch at Trader Vic’s

I might have been a bit harsh on Trader Vic’s in this post, but it feels about right to me. Weird place. So theme-y, if that’s even a word.

For example, I actually wrote this:

From 50 yards away, Trader Vic’s screams at you: “IndoFreakingNesia! Or Hawaii! Or some damn island place with brown people! And masks! Do you understand?????”

For the record, it was a fun time, and the food was pretty good. To read the rest of the report, head over to Breakfast in Bridgetown.
